Tower Ladder on the Transfer Assignment to Irwin Borough

By Second Sergeant Brian Synan
July 9, 2010

At 15:15 hours, Tower Ladder 20 was requested to transfer into Station 57 (Irwin) while they were at a working barn fire with possible entrapment at 2140 Schade Hill Road in North Huntingdon Township. A crew of four from Tower Ladder 20 stoodby with a crew from Ludwick Engine Company (City of Greensburg, Engine 79-6). During the standy, heavy rains with thunder and lightning moved through the area but the standby crews did not have any runs. Crews were in Irwin for approximately three hours until T-57, R-57, E-57, and S-57 returned and put their apparatus back in service. Thanks to Chief and Station 57 for requesting the Tower Ladder!

This was the fourth run of the day for Station 20. Earlier in the day, there was an automatic fire alarm in District 3 in the Twelve Oaks subdivision, a tree down on Logan Ferry Road, and a hazardous condition in a residence in Salem Township.

Units: Irwin VFD (T-57, R-57, E-57, S-57)

Mutual Aid: T-20 and E79-6
