Fair Oaks Smoke in a Residence

By Second Sergeant Brian Synan
July 1, 2010

At 20:37 hours, the first alarm assignment was dispatched to 4111 Manor Oaks Court in the Fair Oaks Manor subdivision for a smell and light haze of smoke in the attached three car garage. Chief 20 arrived and established the Manor Oaks command. Engine 22 was the first arriving apparatus and was positioned in the driveway of the two story home. Attack 64 staged in front of Engine 22 in the driveway leaving the side A street position for Tower Ladder 20. Crews performed a thorough investigation of the house and garage for the source of the smoke. The smell was finally narrowed down to one of the vehicles in the garage. Although the vehicle had not been driven recently, a small electrical fire had smoldered and self-extinguished. The vehicle was moved to the corner of the driveway to await a tow. Units were out approximately one hour.
