At 06:51 hours, Tower Ladder 20 was dispatched to 102 Valley Stream Drive, Apartment 3A for an electrical fire. Chief 64 arrived on scene and reported smoke showing from a window on the Alpha/Bravo corner of the building. At this time, the alarm was upgraded to a working apartment fire. Attack and Engine 64, Ladder 30, Engine 22 with the hydrant assignment, Engine 63, and Truck 87 staged on side Alpha. Crews were assigned to primary and secondary searches as the fire alarm system in the 17 unit apartment building had not been activated. Additional crews were assigned to fire suppression and ventilation. Several residents were evacuated by the interior search crews. The crew assigned to the fire apartment made quick work of the fire and held it to the apartment of origin. The crew from Tower Ladder 20 was assigned to the primary and secondary search of the 3rd division with the engine crew from 63. After completing this assignment, the crew helped with overhaul and mop up of the fire apartment. Crews from Station 20 operated for approximately one and a half hours.
